Baby Names

dont get excited. I have no baby news or anything like that. its just... lately, we have been talking a lot. what ifs and stuff. personally, I think its nothing that a cute puppy wouldnt drive right out of our systems, but we have been talking baby stuff lately.

unlike most girls, growing up, I always said wanted to wait before I got married. I knew lots of girls who wanted to be married by 21. I always said that I wanted to go to school, get a good job, and enjoy life and THEN get married. I never planned a fantasy wedding or looked at wedding dresses. part of it was a revolt against what I felt was expected of me by the other girls. I thought all of that was silly and not as important as keeping up my GPA. the one indugence that I took was baby names.

picking out possible names for future children has always been fun. when I was in high school, I had a hang up with the intitals JR. I had tons of first names picked out that started with J, and middle names that started with R. Jayden Raye. that was my favorite for a girl. and Justin Roy for a boy. of course, Sweetheart hates both of those names, and, actually, they seem a bit silly to me now. no offense to anyone with those names, because they are still nice, but they remind me of high school and I just couldnt name a kid that now.

however, I do love crazy names. when Gwyneth named her daughter Apple, I thought that was the coolest name ever. I still dont get the backlash on it. I love that name and wish I could have used it first!

I managed to extract a promise from Sweetheart that if we ever have a daughter, I may name her Daisy. I love that name. I think its soooooooo adorable. Sweetheart, he doesnt like it so much. but, he did promise. I still havent decided if I would actually go with Daisy, just cause I dont have a middle or first name to pair with it, but the fact that I do have the power really pleases me.

if we had a boring boy, Sweetheart wants to name him after himself. *gag* now, my dad is named after his father, so no one get offended that I dont like that, okay. its just... Sweethearts parents picked his name, and by just naming our son that, Sweetheart is robbing (yes, ROBBING) me of the chance to pick out a boy name. because Sweetheart has his heart set on it, I will, of course, let him pass on his name. that doesnt mean that I wont whine about it, though. in fact, thats how I extracted my Daisy promise from him. =)

one of my newer favorite names is October. I think a daughter named October would be soooo precious. I know that my family would hate it, though. they have no imagination! Sweetheart actually likes October, but he doesnt think he could actually name a child October. so, Im thinking that when (if) we get a puppy, we will use October.

I also used to like these names, Emma Leigh and Abby Gail. Instead of Emily and Abigail, and the kid would get to pick to go by either Emma or Emma Leigh or Abby or Abby Gail. (bonus, one of those names is Sweethearts moms name.) but for some reason, I have drifted away from those names.

I dont know how I feel about naming the kid after someone in the family... is that too much to live up to? (for the kid or the honoree) maybe I should just wait to see if we ever actually want to have a baby before we pick out names. I could always name the furniture if we decide to be childless!
here is Sweetheart as a baby... Awwwwwwwwwwwww, cutest baby, EVER!!!!

Great photo, what a looker!

After 5 baby showers in the last 12 months I'm pretty much over all things baby. Well maybe no all things baby I do have that cute 3 week old niece.

I like the names Lillian and Isabella for a girl, not used so much anymore, but not out dated like Bertha... LOL.

I am with you and don't like naming a kid junior. It's kinda like you right off the bat rob them of the opportunity to be their own person. Plus, do you KNOW how much hassel naming a kid after yourself recks on their credit report? It's awful!!

FYI: I personally like the name Shawn for a boy. It's just a cool name!

As a girl, I wanted to name my daughter Victoria, but grew out of that.

I named my son "Banjo" while he was in the womb because a star had given their son that name and I thought it was silly. But I had a hard time NOT calling him Banjo once he was born. So you can always give your baby a pet name while in the womb, but they don't need to bear the burden of it their whole lives.

I love biblical names and my husband disliked them so that made things interesting.

I recommend the name "Rachel."
